Echoes of Glory
1980

This photographic essay is a quiet journey through the remains of the 13th century "Castello Carafa" before its renovation. The castle is perched above Roccella Jonica, a small town in Calabria, Italy.

Once a seat of power and culture, in 1980 the castle stood in poetic disrepair—its arches crumbling, its staircases worn by centuries of footsteps, its frescoes fading into whispers of color.

Through twenty carefully selected images, we follow a path from the open landscape into shadowed rooms and spiral passageways. The sequence reflects not just the physical architecture, but the layered memory embedded in every stone. In the silence, the castle spoke to me—of time, loss, resilience, and the dignity of ruins.
